Colossus at the Bristol Motor Speedway
The Colossus at the Bristol Motor Speedway is the world's largest center-hung LED display.
Weighing nearly 700 tons, it's suspended by 117 tons of cabling and can be raised and lowered for different events. This massive TV has 4 high-res displays measuring 30 by 63 feet with 54 million LEDs and 18 million pixels.
The structure hangs from a halo-shaped truss with an additional circular LED ring display screen underneath, giving spectators more than 10,500 square feet of high-resolution, active viewing area.
The installation required careful engineering and surgical precision, and used a set of Ron StageMaster shackle pin load cells to get the job done. This style load cell allows for an absolute minimum of headroom loss.
Kudos to Barnhart Crane+Rigging for this "Colossus" achievement.
